Hi,
I just bought Laura Mercier moisturizing foundation at sephora.
I like the foundation but it caused breakouts. I am planning to switch to some other company like Bare minerals but ,
the sales associate at Sephora said that it is not meant for dry skin. I am really confused , not sure which one to buy.
My skin is sensitive, dry and acne prone. I just don't want to try
some thing that will again result in pimples. please help !Bare minerals for dry , sensitive and acne prone skin?
Try the ';Universal'; mineral make-up for Urban Decay (also available from Sephora)
It provides great coverage, blends seemlessly, and has an easy to use no mess sponge applicator.
It is also all natural (no man made products or chemicals), is hypo-allergenic, and provides UVA %26amp; UVB protection.
Because the minerals ';lay flat'; (dont cling to skin) it is ideal for dry skin. Just apply your fave moisturizer first.. or for lighter coverage you can actually mix the mineral makeup with your moisturizer to create your own at home!
This stuff is actually good for your skin, you can even sleep in it.Bare minerals for dry , sensitive and acne prone skin?
I have dry skin too(it's sensitive, acne prone, and i also have a condition called eczema-you may or may not have heard about it) but i found that if I use Aveeno ultra-calming moisturizer after washing my face then ProActiv Green Tea Moisturizer all over, my face stays smooth. The mineral makeup actually helped my skin! After i bought it, i started using proactiv and acnefree facial washes(i have to switch between the two) then using those moisturizers and now my skin looks and feels really nice.
Buy:
bare Minerals makeup
ProActiv wash(only use two times a week though, the beads in it can be irritating)
ProActiv's Green Tea moisturizer(this goes on SO well and makes your skin really soft)
AcneFree wash(good for every day)
Aveeno Ultra Calming SPF 15 moisturizer(use before the proactiv moisturizer)
Good luck
The trick to good coverage with any mineral powder makeup is to make sure you wear a good moisturizer underneath it.
Make sure you use a moisturizer meant for dry skin, that it doesn't contain oils and that it won't clog your pores. Mineral powder will work well with your skin as long as you moisturize, let it dry, then apply the powder. Apply the mineral powder in light coats. You can always add more for better coverage, but you just don't want to apply one heavy coat. It will make your face look powdery.
If your skin is sensitive I'd stay away from ANY mineral makeup that contains bismuth oxychloride. It is in bare minerals , maybelline, avon, and many many others.
It is a heavy metal and gives that shiny glow. It must be buffed into the pores to do this, hence the instructions to buff buff buff. Which can further irritate skin and enlarge/clog your pores!
If you want a healthy glow without the bismuth you should use what I use.....LA Minerals. Their Hollywood formula would be best for your dry skin. It has silk powder in it too which is very helpful for retaining moisture. There's lots testimonials on the site from ppl with sensitive skin like yours. They have samples for like $1 and ship em free, so you could see if it works for you without breakin the bank!
good luck!
I have similar skin and love Bare Minerals. If you want to be sure it will work on your skin, try buying Maybelline Mineral Power at any drug store first. It's cheaper and almost identical to Bare Minerals.
try the maybelline liquid minerals foundation. yes bare minerals is not meant for dry skin but you could make it into liquid foundation by mixing it with moisturizer or sunscreen
Cover is non comondegenic (spelling) which means it won't clog pores which is the cause of acne
